Education Leadership Conference (ELC)
In late October, Jason and Mike attended the 17th annual Physical Therapy Education Leadership Conference in Milwaukee WI. The weekend hosted by the APTA Academy of Education and American Council of Academic Physical Therapy consisted of educational 60 sessions and 70 poster presentations covering best practices & evidence-based updates about how to best educate PT students in the clinic and classroom. They were joined by Amanda Benner Assistant Director of Clinical Education, Tara Paradie, Director of Clinical Education and Jenny Audette DPT Program Director from the university of New England. It was an amazing collaboration of clinicians, educators and program directors from institutions all across the country. Highlights included discussions around competency based education, lowering costs of education, establishing student lead/community based fall risk reduction programs and incorporating a framework of clinical reasoning in the classroom. We are so grateful to have such strong academic partners helping us to elevate the standards of clinical education in physical therapy for students, clinicians and patients!
